‘TWIN SPIRITS’,
Selected to be performed in the foyer of the Royal National Theatre.
EXTRA INFORMATION:
‘TWIN SPIRITS’, written and directed by Steven Downs was a play in two parts. It told the stories of Shaka Zulu and Queen Boudicca
Comments included: “At first sight Shaka and Boudicca seem total opposites, but, as the plots unfolded we were struck by the similarities. Both welded great Nations with a spirit born of personal hardship, both were consumed by a hatred, bordering on madness. Superstition and religion created a sinister, surreal atmosphere. Each story has a frantic pace which reflects the frantic hurry of the characters and although each story ended tragically, for the protagonists, they both left their people with a legacy of hope, a legend.“They were twin spirits, they were the voices of the wind.” National Theatre in-house review.
