‘SHELLSHOCK’

Following workshops with Nigerian drummers, singers and dancers, Steven wrote a piece based on the situation created in Ogoniland, a small area of land in the Niger delta, following the discovery of oilfields there.

The songs and dances learned in the workshops were incorporated into the production. The Company used several life-size and smaller puppets to enhance the performance. This production saw the debut appearance of JODIE WHITTAKER, who has since gone on to appear in many films and TV dramas. (“Venus”, “Attack the block”, “Broadchurch” and the first female Dr Who).
