Commissioned by the West Yorkshire Playhouse. Written in conjunction with the community cast and Musical Director Richard Taylor.

“PHOENIX OF LEODIS” began as a community project with the West Yorkshire Playhouse’s HEYDAYS group. The group researched aspects of the history of Leeds, particularly the area around Quarryhill, where the theatre is built. Following the performance it was considered worthy of further development.

ONCE UPON A QUARRY HILL. Along with Resident Composer Richard Taylor and members of the Heydays group, Steven was commissioned to develop the idea into a full length, community show. The final performance involved over 200 performers, was performed in the Quarry Theatre and received excellent reviews from the national press.
