EXTRA INFORMATION:

As Educational Director for London based, West African theatre Company TIATA FAHODZI, Steven was commissioned to work with black writers in developing productions to involve the Caribbean community of Huddersfield. “STEPPIN’ OUT” looked at the black music scene in Huddersfield in the 1970’s. “IT TAKES A WHOLE VILLAGE” showed the way in which friends and relatives come together to help a young person in trouble. “REMEMBER WHEN…” was developed from the stories of a group of Caribbean women, part of the Harriet Tubman group in Huddersfield. They would meet every week and reminisce about their lives in the Caribbean and their experiences upon arriving in Huddersfield in the 1960’s. Their stories were developed into a full-length drama which incorporated songs from their past and present. It was performed at several venues in the area including the Barber studio of the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
